Our Background
Committed to Excellence
SOTERA’s incorporation is based on the potential railway market growth in Hong Kong, China along with the prospective development from the Belt and Road initiative by the Chinese Government, and new trains to be potentially purchased by MTR Corporation (MTRC) between 2018-2023.
During May 2016 when UGL had internally announced its intention to retreat from the HK market, some employees whom still maintained its enthusiasm over the local railway market felt regrettable, particularly when UGL had spent, built and provided 17 years of railway service through projects with MTRC, which is no easy feat.
After 1 year of brainstorming and analysis, the conclusion was that we did not want to give up the works, results and achievements UGL had already built and established with MTRC. After consulted with UGL and award their support to built up our new company.
We wanted to continue this achievement, in Hong Kong, in China and Asia in the future.
On May 2017, these ex-UGL colleagues came together, and set up SOTERA RAIL SERVICES LIMITED.
